M. Ababovic. “Nita's presentation about Ghana painted an exciting and multidimensional portrait of this country and its culture. Ghana was brought to life through Nita's intricate story of all things - important, funny & unusual. There is no way that travelling with a person native to the country can be compared in any other guided tour. On the scale of 1-10 stars, Nita is beyond the horizon."

P. Reid. "Thank you for the wonderful experience!!! It was excellent!"

The Gullah Islands tour during 2006 Memorial Day Weekend was an experience rich in history and self-awareness. I learned much more than I expected and have renewed motivation and pride about the greatness of my people. From the moment of arrival at the airport, the learning began. Nita handled all arrangements with great professionalism and made her agenda flexible for times when what I was taking in moved me so much I felt overwhelmed and needed some time to digest it all. Nita knows her stuff and was not afraid to ask if she did not know the answer.

The tours of the plantation houses in both the city and rural settings were all excellent and I especially had a great time at the Oyo Tunji village. It brought back memories of my days performing African dance. If not for this tour, I don't know when I would have found out about the Gullah people, their link to Africa and vast contributions to American history. It was truly a wonderful learning experience and just the beginning of what I hope to be more "education through exploration" trips with Maame Koranchee's.

Next up...Ghana or South Africa.

 A. Keogh. "Maame Koranchee knows travel and how to exceed customer expectations".

For many years I worked in IT for a major global travel company. I traveled frequently to many destinations around the world and never had to worry about making arrangements as someone else did it for me. Problem was that when I started working in another industry and went to plan a trip I knew I was in trouble. Between flight arrangements, hotel accommodations, transfer services and the like, I was overwhelmed. I heard about Maame Koranchee's services so I gave it a try realizing they sure couldn't do any worse than me. WOW, What an understatement!!!! They took care of everything from updating my passport to producing an itinerary that provided me a level of convenience and comfort I didn't think possible. They also planned out excursions and briefed me on the history, culture and protocol of three different countries, making my trip more enjoyable, rewarding and fulfilling than any other trip I had previously made (and this is from someone who had racked up more than 250,000 frequent flyer miles!!!) And if all of that wasn't enough they took my camera film, developed it and created a first rate photo album augmenting it with commentary about the places I had been to keeping alive a fantastic memory in exacting detail. OUTSTANDING!!!! Why are they so good?? Very simple, they love what they do. Apparently for many years travel and cultural research were personal passions that they pursued as a matter of expressing the people they are. So many friends and colleagues became impressed with their accounts of where they went to and what they did it started to become obvious that this is what they should do for a living. They may be small in size but they produce a product the large multinational travel companies have not even envisioned yet. I never knew travel could be so fun, educational and affordable until I let Maame Koranchee do all the work for me.

From now on, the very first thing I do when thinking about traveling is to yell out "I WANT MY MAAME!!!!"

Caitlin Harren. "My expectations were blown away with the services that I received from Maame Koranchee's. I knew I wanted to go to Ghana in June 2003, but I didn't know where to start, until Maame Koranchee's came to rescue. I didn't have any prior experience with the complexity of planning out and executing all the details of making an international trip. I had never been to Africa, or anywhere else that required vaccinations and visas. Once I started with the practical aspects of preparing for a trip like this, I became quickly overwhelmed and then I turned to Maame Koranchee. After talking to Nita about the Ghanaian experience and what I should expect to see there, I immediately felt more relaxed. Had it not been for Nita's confidence and reassuring familiarity, I honestly might not have gone. She provided with expert counsel on what to do, see and expect in Ghana."

In retrospect, I can't imagine how close I came to making the huge mistake of staying home. Home for me is Rochester, NY. As a traveler, I have never felt safer than I did when traveling in Ghana. Nor have I ever been more graciously enveloped in a culture. Traveling within the country was remarkably easy. The food and accommodations were always very well presented and authentic. Everyone we met was genuinely sweet and interested in making connections. From the intense and vibrant urban markets to the uninhabited areas of the Volta region, my trip was absolutely life changing due to the connections with local people that naturally formed as they welcomed us into their homes.

Working in Avon as a youth minister seems like I have died and gone to heaven ... only one thing .... not much diversity there.  When I met Nita Brown working on a Global Solidarity project of the Dioceses [of Rochester], I could see that she would be a great speaker [for my youth group].
